Rainbow seas off O’ahu

 
I’m delighted to share with you my recent painting “Rainbow seas off O’ahu” I painted this on Saturday and it is the 35th in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in all of us. Distant shores, great voyages, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our world.
 
 
The reports had been uncertain, and the weather had changed suddenly as it can in the North Pacific.
 
Ray and Mia quickly trimmed the sails and prepared their vessel to ride out the squall.
 
Winds rose and huge waves appeared. The tiny craft pushed through the peaks and troughs, her speed increasing as the sails harnessed the winds, propelling them southwestwards with exhilarating force.
 
For 4 hours they rode the storm until the sun was low on the horizon travelling over 70 nautical miles into calmer waters towards the heart of the huge void of the pacific.
 
The sun dipped below the earths rim once more for the night. A bright moon rose. 
 
Ray smiled at Mia and they both sighed with relief as they looked across the deep velvet azure with its golden moonlit reflections. 
 
The long voyage had begun…
